Misleading

I called the Kearny NJ location and was told that they do offer the medical test for the immigration process. I took my 80 year old father and spent 2 hours in the waiting room. During this time I paid the $400 fee. The front desk girls were courteous but they were clueless. Finally when we saw Dr Sanchez, he examined my father physically then said we would have to go to another site to do the blood test to determine the level of vaccines in my dad. He treated us like we were there to beg. He left to write us scripts for the blood tests. I asked to speak with the office manager and everyone got frazzled and started mumbling. Dr Sanchez walked in with an attitude, he asked us what is the problem and if we want our money back is not a problem. He walked to the admission team and told them to give us our money back, the girls started ranting about they told us and the doctor said just give them the money back. At no point did the office manager approached us. This team does not know what theyre doing . The waiting area had a young woman going to the bathroom to vomit a few times, she was sitting there with her mask off and no one said or did anything to her . When we walked in we were quickly handed masks to wear. Whats the point then ?

Family was thrown out of urgent care with sick kids

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am writing because my wife took my 5 year old and 3 year old this morning to your urgent care at southpoint in Durham North Carolina. Now my family has been seen here 4-5 times over the last 3-6 months. Never an issue, never anything but positive experiences. Until today, when your medical assistant Michelle threw my wife and kids out because my 5 year old and 3 year old refused to put masks on. Now my 5 year old has pnemonia, we got that confirmed at the Duke urgent care up the road after being thrown out of your establishment. To say Im upset or angry would be a total understatement. My wife has brought both our boys there numerous times and not once were they given an issue about wearing masks. Also my 5 year old, who has pnemonia, is also potentially on the spectrum and doesnt like things on his head or face. So your medical assistant Michelle told my wife to leave and go somewhere else. Its unacceptable, and disrespectful to treat a mother with 2 very sick kids in that manner and this Michelle seems to enjoy using power and being disrespectful. Also if the provider at this location was also in agreeance with this decision then you should get yourself different providers. We have seen numerous others at this location in the past and they have all been very nice and wonderful with my boys. But no one in this day and age should be sending a mother and her 3 year old and 5 year old with pnemonia out the door after waiting patiently to be seen all morning.

Compliment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I called here to see if they accepted my insurance prior to coming in because I couldn't get an appointment with my doctor. They did. Staff was super helpful over the phone and actually answers the phone immediately. They are located in the vons and cvs parking lot. Very easily accessible. I was checked in by Crystal who was working the front desk. The lobby was very busy and she was super patient, helpful and friendly with each and every patient - not to mention super efficient at checking everyone in and getting people registered right away. She did a great job of setting proper expectations on check in process and wait times assisted patients with getting registers making the process seamless. I was told about an hr and 45 min wait, but was called back with in 20 minutes! How awesome is that! I was honestly blown away by her customer service. I think she deserves to be recognized for her exceptional people skills and professionalism. Would highly recommend this location for your urgent care needs. Ronda was the nurse and she was working so hard and fast to get patients seen despite the rush. In between patients I felt super at ease because I noticeably saw her disinfecting and wiping everything down. The facility is very clean. She was also super friendly and professional and assisted everyone with a positive attitude. Shout out Ronda and Crystal for being so good to patients and urgent care is never a fun place to be but these two ladies made it that much more pleasant. Kindness goes along way!

New Check In Procedures

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have used my local AFC in past years with great success. The medical staff has always been professional and empathetic. I used the services last night and was terribly disappointed by the new check in process. Patients are required to use their personal devices to complete paperwork that has already been physically completed. When I asked a question about the electronic form, the front desk verified that she already had access to the same information in her system. I dont see the purpose of asking sick patients who may not even have access to electronic devices for redundant information. The biggest thing I noticed about the electronic form was an option to send patient contact information to affiliates or to send promotional emails to patients. Also, if the patients did not complete the electronic forms, their appointment were CANCELED. I dont think your company considered the fact that your clinics are located in rural areas with people from varying ages and education levels. I watched two patients walk out because they were frustrated with the new check in process. Your are losing business and the trust of your patients.

Pros:

Cons:
  • Use of electronic check in and use of personal contact information for affiliate marketing

Preferred solution: Dual physical and electronic check in should be modified or eliminated.

User's recommendation: The medical staff continues to be professional, empathetic, and very knowledgeable. I will continue to use them if the new check in process is eliminated or modified.

No X-ray services available although it is advertised on the building. Waited 1hr to be seen and medical assistant informed of the lack of X-rays there. She said there was a sign in the waiting room no so. False advertising so obvious. Have alerted my ins co not to pay any claim. Also mas wearing was not enforced in the waiting area. I wont use AFC ever again. Ill be emailing the necessary governmental agency about your lack of candor with consumers.

Complaint

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to this clinic yesterday because I have been having pain in my wrist and a rash around my eye, issues that have been occurring for the last few months. I cannot currently go to a local primary care doctor because I am outside my coverage area, but I can go to urgent care. The interactions I had with a male nurse where alarming and disturbing, so much so that I felt that I should make others aware of this situation. Below is a summary of my interactions with this nurse. When I arrived at the AFC facility everyone was very kind and helpful until I had to interact with the nurse named Albert on duty. This nurse came into the room and the first thing he asked was which of the two issues was more pressing. I responded both as I had not been told by the staff checking me in or taking my vitals that I could not be seen for both. The nurse was not happy about this but agreed to examine me for both issues. He asked me if I had been seen by my primary care physician for the first issue (a persistent rash around my eye). I explained the issue to him about my insurance and that I had not yet been seen about the issue because of this or the other issue (my wrist). He then asked me if I had been seen by my primary care physician for me wrist. I, again, said no. He then proceeded to tell me that both of these issues could be treated over the counter by getting a topical cream and a brace at the local pharmacy. He told me he could not see my eye rash, which was minimal on this day. He did not ask about it, how it presented, how long I had had it, or what I had done for it. Instead, he told me that it is probably allergies, and he would prescribe an ointment. Next, he told me he would order an xray for my wrist. He did not ask about my wrist, how the injury occurred, where the pain radiated from, or examine how my wrist moves. Instead, he told me that my wrist was mostly likely not broken and that it was probably just sprained. He agreed to have it xrayed. After the xray, the nurse went over the them with me because he found an abnormality (at the location of my pain). He gave me a brace and ordered anti-inflammatories. Ill stop here to explain a particularly troubling part of my interaction that goes beyond his indifference. I told the nurse that I would wear the brace and I would follow up with a specialist when I was able to go to a local doctor, if the brace did not help. He then proceeded to tell me that if I was that concerned about the problem that I would go to a specialist and pay cash for treatment. I have been to this facility on one other occasion when I had gotten a palm front in the ball of my foot. This same nurse treated me on that occasion and had a very similar demeanor, suggesting that there was not anything he could do for me and that I should not have come in for this issue. He did agree to do some digging around at the wound site and told me there was nothing there. For the next week, I could not put weight on my foot and about 5 days later the tip of a 1.5 inch palm frond came out of my foot. I am not suggesting that it was his fault that he did not find the palm frond imbedded in my foot. Instead, I am suggesting that his bed side manner of Im not sure why you have come into the clinic and I cannot do anything for you is a little disconcerting. While I currently do not have many options for care in the area, there are other clinics available to me. I will not be using your clinic, now or in the future, and I will not be recommending the clinic to others. I will conclude to wonder if I have misunderstood the purpose of going to an AFC clinic (e.g., to provide services to people in need of medical care) and to make you aware of my interactions with this nurse. As a professional person, that works hard for a living, my time and money are valuable to me. It takes a lot for me to take the time to go into a facility and to be dismissed and demeaned, seems out of character for an urgent care or a nurse. Further, I work hard for my money, and for a nurse to flippantly suggest that I pay out of pocket for services when I have insurance seems, out of place and rude. Please consider going to another urgent care in the area if you need medical attention in Niceville, FL.

Not receiving a credit for services not received!

I went to AFC Urgent care on the 25th, Spfld., MA after hours of waiting I decided I didn't want to wait any longer and requested a refund. I was told that I would have to come back tomorrow when Karen, the manager, would be in. They took my money "in advance" why do I have to wait? They kept threatening me that they're going to call the police... fine, I want a refund! The receptionist started going off, like a child having a temper tantrum, I thought she was going to lose her wig! Really unprofessional. Next thing I know, there's a lady in my face stating she's the manager she's going to call the police...I said "oh Karen the manager, you can get me my refund"! Needless to say, today is 3 days later and AFC is still trying to withdraw money from my account!! NOTE: They pass around a tablet from sick patient to sick patient, spreading germs!! After closing they didn't even wipe down the area or spray any disinfectant.
